PRAYER OF FAITH BUILT BY AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN

Did you know that Milton is now the home of a church built by an African American female?  Humanitarian and anointed messenger of God, Ambassador Brenda Brandon Smith was born April 14, 1958 to Mr. Claude Brandon and Mother Edith Brandon Trammell.  She married the only love of her life who's now Deacon John A. Smith and their union, two children were born; Miss Shernitha Smith of the home, and Mr. Derrick Smith of Semora, NC.  God began to move in her life at an early age.  In 1998, God gave her a vision to start a ministry.  While under the leadership of Dr. Eula Payne-Williams, the Prayer of Faith Ministry was born and services were held Tuesday nights at her home.  Her first attendants were Evangelist Clara Richmond, and a few of her family members.  The ministry began to grow so rapidly that we began to have services at the Ruritan Club in Semora, NC. The ministry continued to grow abling us to conduct services on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings. While standing on God's word believing on her faithfulness over a few things will gain her favor with God. Smith carried on service with one keyboard player her son Brother Derrick Smith, and a small choir directed by her sister, Sheena Myers. She was soon able to add additional equipment in the church thanks to Prophet James Wilson. With a drumset, microphone, keyboard, P.A. system, choir and congregation the ministry began to grow and develop a strong foundation. Even though the ministry was small, the congregation praised and worshipped God to the highest and never forgot to help someone along the way, both spiritually and physically. After attending bible school under the leadership of Bishop Timmons, Brenda Smith was ordained as Pastor. In 2001, God gave Pastor Smith a vision to build a church for "his" people. Transportation was limited, but Pastor Smith was soon able to purchase a van to get the people to church. The land was purchased for the building of the new sanctuary. Meanwhile, services were held at Carolina Pinnacle Studios in Yanceyville, NC. The congregation is thankful God allowed their paths to cross with Mr. Faiger Blackwell who allowed services to be held at the studio. Inspite of a long waiting process and many up's and down's, Pastor Smith kept the faith and in 2003 they held the groundbreaking for the new "Prayer of Faith." The new sanctuary was completed in 2004 and on January 24, 2004 the Pastor, congregation, family, and friends celebrated the blessing God had given us with a dedication service. From 2004 to 2005, God has done miraculous things for Pastor Smith and the Prayer of Faith Ministry. She has become the "esteemed Ambassador Smith" and her membership has tripled "INSPITE" of people who said that "SHE WOULDN'T MAKE IT" and "DOUBTED HER SUCCESS" as a "FEMALE PREACHER, " but she "STILL" kept the faith in God. Now the doubters and the unbelievers have to ride by and see what having faith in God can "DO!"
